Athletics and activities are an important part of the educational experience at Dolores County School District. They provide opportunities for students to develop teamwork, leadership, responsibility, perseverance, confidence, character, and pride while representing their school and community.
As we begin the 2026–2027 school year, Dolores County School District is placing an increased focus on strengthening the culture and overall experience surrounding Bulldog athletics and activities. At the center of that work is The Bulldog Way.
Core Values of The Bulldog Way
The values we expect throughout Dolores County School District are the same values we expect to see in our athletic and activity programs:

Athletics as an Extension of the Classroom
Winning and competition are important parts of athletics, but our programs have a larger purpose. We want students to learn how to prepare, compete, handle adversity, work with others, accept responsibility, demonstrate sportsmanship, and represent something larger than themselves.
Those lessons require a partnership among students, coaches, staff, parents, families, and our community:

Student-Athletes: We expect our student-athletes to compete hard and demonstrate good sportsmanship.

Coaches and Sponsors: We expect our coaches and sponsors to teach, lead, and model The Bulldog Way.

Parents, Families, and Community: We ask our parents, families, and community to enthusiastically support our students while demonstrating the same values we expect from them.
A Message to Bulldog Fans
We want our gyms and athletic fields to be energetic places filled with Bulldog pride. We want our fans to be loud, our community to be proud, and our students to know Dove Creek is behind them.
However, we also want every home and away event to reflect positively on our schools and our community. Our message is simple:

Role Models in the Stands
Officials will make calls with which we disagree. Coaches will make decisions. Games will be emotional, and competition naturally creates difficult moments. How we respond to those moments is where our character shows.
The adults in the stands are role models, too. Our students notice how we respond to adversity, how we treat other people, and whether our actions match the expectations we place on them.
We Are Dove Creek
When one of our teams travels to another community, we represent Dove Creek. When another school visits our facilities, we represent Dove Creek. When our students compete, our coaches lead, and our fans cheer, we represent Dove Creek.
Our goal is for people to leave an event knowing that Dove Creek competes hard, supports its students, treats people with respect, and takes pride in doing things the right way.
Throughout the year, families and fans will see these expectations reinforced at our athletic venues and district events. This initiative isn't about taking the passion out of Bulldog athletics—quite the opposite:
We simply want that passion to represent the very best of who we are. Together, our students, coaches, staff, families, and community can continue strengthening an athletics and activities program that develops successful competitors and, more importantly, young people of strong character.
