Welcome to 2022! We hope that everyone had a safe and happy holiday season and a very Merry Christmas.

As we begin January 2022, DCHS/MS would like to begin getting back to our attendance policy that was put into place prior to COVID. We made significant strides with our attendance rate pre-covid and we would like to get back to our district goal of 95% attendance for our students. Studies show that students who have good attendance will consistently have better grades and score better on MAP and SAT testing.  Please help us attain our school goal for attendance by making sure your child gets to school every day.

We are continuing with our policy of no cell phones in the classroom. Teachers will still be bringing cell phones to the office if students have them out in the classroom and parents will have to come to pick them up after 3 times being taken. Please remind your child to keep their cell phones in their lockers during class time.

Also, we will be taking a deep dive look at our winter MAP data this Friday at our teacher in-service day. Teachers will utilize the data to help drive their lesson planning and try to fill holes where they see our students struggling. We have already looked at the data somewhat and held a pizza party last week for our 6th - 10th-grade students that met their growth goal on MAP testing. We had 78 students meet that goal and handed out $700 in gift cards from local businesses to those that met their goal. I would like to send out a great big thank you to Kay Daves and Community Voice and Prevention for donating all of the pizza for the party and the gift cards for the kids.

I am really looking forward to the spring semester and what it will bring. Stay warm!
