August 2024 HS/MS Principals Report
Welcome back! We’re excited to kick off the 2024-2025 school year and are excited for another year of learning and growth. As we gear up for the new school year, we’d like to remind you of a few key procedures at DCHS/MS:
Closed Campus Policy: Our campus is closed to all students throughout the school day. During lunch, however, 9th-12th grade students who maintain a 70% or higher average in all their classes are permitted to leave the campus. For parents of 6th-8th graders wishing to check out their child for lunch, please visit the office window.
Cell Phone Policy: We enforce a no-cell phone policy in classrooms. Students may use their phones during passing periods, before and after school, and at lunch. We appreciate your support in discussing with your child the importance of keeping cell phone use from disrupting their learning. If a phone is confiscated three times, parents will need to retrieve it from the office.
Activity Participation Fees: Please note there has been an increase in high school sports fees:

$50.00 per sport per student

$100.00 maximum per student

$150.00 maximum per family
These fees are necessary to cover the increasing costs of extracurricular activities. All fees must be paid before students can participate in any group or team activities. Middle school students are not required to pay these participation fees. If these fees pose a financial hardship, please contact the principal, who may consider waiving the fee on a case-by-case basis.
Lastly, we are excited to welcome our new history teacher, Ms. Susan Russell. Coming to us from southern Illinois with several years of teaching experience, Ms. Russell is a great addition to our team. Please join us in welcoming her!
