September 2023 HS/MS Principals Report
We are off and running at the HS/MS. It doesn’t seem possible that we are already almost through September and halfway through the fall sports season. We have just finished up MAPs testing and will be reviewing that data this Friday at our teacher in-service. We will be focusing on the percentage of students (6th-10th grade) that are at benchmark. Our goal is to have 80% of our students in the 4 academic areas tested scoring at benchmark or higher. Those four areas are math, science, reading, and language arts.
I also wanted to inform parents about the change to our advisory period. All students will have a short advisory period where they will be learning about a variety of things. One day per week will be the students meeting with our new student-support teacher, Mrs. Aubrey Cook-Carnahan. She will be discussing various topics including bullying, being kind, emotional wellness, etc. Other days will include college and career exploration, building their ICAP (individual career academic plan), and sending an email to their parents every week reporting their grades. Please be on the lookout for this.
The first of this school year has gotten off to a fabulous start. There is a ton of learning taking place, both teachers and students are working hard. It is really cool to see how smoothly this fall has started.
This is homecoming week and below is a list of events. Come out and support the bulldogs.
