Subject: Health Alert: Confirmed Measles Case in Montezuma County

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have been informed by public health officials that a confirmed case of measles has been reported in a neighboring county. At this time, there are no confirmed cases within our school district, but we are sharing this information out of an abundance of caution and to help keep our community informed and healthy.

Measles is a highly contagious viral illness that spreads through coughing and sneezing.

Symptoms can include:

  •  Cough, runny nose, and red, watery eyes
  •  High fever
  • A red rash that typically starts on the face and spreads to the rest of the body

We will continue to monitor updates from the local health department and share any relevant information as it becomes available.

Thank you for your attention and cooperation in helping to keep our students and community healthy.
